because it's fucking pathetic!!

lose - the opposite of win, to misplace something, ONE FUCKING O
loose - the opposite of tight, your mother/wife/sister, TWO FUCKING O's
how can so many people get these two confused? IDIOTS

your - a possessive, similar to mine, his, her as in "your loose slut of a sister loses her mind every time she gets railroaded by your whole inbred, shitbag excuse of a family", NO FUCKING APOSTROPHE
you're - a contraction of "you are", as in "you're a dipshit", A FUCKING APOSTROPHE

its - another possessive, similar to your, NO FUCKING APOSTROPHE
it's - a contraction of "it is", as in 'it's fucking simple', A FUCKING APOSTROPHE

Need a trick? Fine - when using it's or you're, expand the contraction. If "you're head is full of shit" becomes "you are head is full of shit" and doesn't make any sense (maybe it will to you because you're a fucking idiot), then you are using the wrong word. Queef.

to - a preposition, as in "turn to the right" or "it's time to go back to school", ONE FUCKING O
too - an adverb (know what that is?), synonymous with "also", "as well" as in "Really? I went to college too. I actually read a FUCKING BOOK." It can also be used to mean "to a regrettable degree" as in "It's too late for you, moron", TWO FUCKING O's
two - a number, it comes after one

there - an adverb, similar to here as in "your tiny bus is over there"
their - yet another possessive, similar to your as in "it's not their fault that you're a fucking retard. It's YOUR fault."
they're - a contraction of "they are" as in "they're not responsible for your complete ignorance of YOUR OWN FUCKING LANGUAGE. READ A BOOK!!"

IT'S NOT FUCKING HARD, DOUCHE BAGS.

By the way, grammar is spelled with TWO FUCKING A's. So next time you want to flame someone for bad "grammer", at least spell it right.

Another receptionist link

More along the lines of someone being a temp receptionist, from Not My Desk (http://www.notmydesk.com/guide/receptionist.html) Yes it is rather long.

THE RECEPTIONIST

A popular job for the temp just starting out, an old stand-by for the experienced temp, and mountain of despair and confusion for both. About fifty percent of my temping experiences can be chalked up to receptionist positions, and its no easy ride. The strange thing about working reception is that whether it’s your first job and you have no experience, or you’ve been temping for years and you’ve seen it all, it’s still a job that is going to whip you across the back like a belt lined with fishhooks. Metaphorically speaking.

Announcing Calls

This is the worst part of being a receptionist. Especially in smaller offices, certain employees may want you to announce their calls. That means when a call comes in, you have to get their name, put them on hold, call the person in question, tell them who it is, find out if they want to talk to the caller, and then either connect the two calls or take a message or put the call through to voice mail. Pain in the ass? You bet, particularly when you have five other lines flashing, people waiting in the lobby, and the person you are trying to reach isn’t at their desk.

The other problem with this is that connecting calls can be tricky on foreign phone systems, and when you’re a temp, everything is foreign. There’s usually a confusing process that includes specific numbers, different buttons, several consoles, and sometimes even chanting. Sometimes a guide or set of instructions is provided for you, which is very helpful but not always life-saving. A specific example is the time I was answering phones for a large engineering firm. There was only one guy in the entire firm who wanted his calls announced, but he still managed to ruin the entire job for me.

The phone system was a bit old but had been thoughtfully designed by Nazis. To connect two calls you needed to pick one line up, hit 4, press pound, hit 77, pick up the other line, hit 9090, press this greenish button, flick the lights on and off a few times, activate a elaborate pulley system... and so on. Needlessly complicated, time-consuming... but I had it all written down on paper, so I was capable of successfully performing the procedure.

A call came in that afternoon for Bob Hall, the one gentleman for whom I was to announce calls. I got the caller’s name, which was Alan Greene, and put him on hold. I picked up a free line and called Bob.

"Bob," said Bob.

"Hi. I have Alan Greene on the line, would you like to take his call?"

"Yeah, okay."

Fine. I was doing well. I reached for the paper with the long list of instructions.

"Alan?"

It was Bob, apparently thinking I had already connected them.

"Alan? Alan? Hello? Alan? Alan? You there? Alan?"

"Uh, I haven’t-"

"Alan? Alan?"

"I haven’t connected you yet," I said. "Just a moment."

"Oh."

I hit the first button in the sequence.

"Alan? Alan? Hello? Alan?"

"Just a second," I nearly snapped at him, fumbling with the keys.

"New receptionist," was the last thing I heard him mutter before I finally connected them.

This happened a few more times throughout the day, and every time I got a call for him I became a nervous wreck. It was the same each time. I’d tell him he had a call and he’d immediately start calling the persons name, as if I could instantaneously transfer the guy. I’d say, "I’ve got Jim on the line." And then I’d hear this: "Okay, put him throughJim?Jim?Jim?Jim?Jim?" I don’t know what he was used to, but the former receptionist must have had a few extra fingers or something.

At the end of the day I got another call for him. This time I would be ready. I put the person on hold, got the paper out, and ran through the operation a few times in my head. I poised one hand above the console, flexed it a few times, then called Bob.

"Bob."

"Hi. Dave Smith on the line for you. Should I put him through?"

"N-"

I became a flurry of fingers, hitting buttons at a speed far greater than I thought was possible. By Golly, he’d be connected with his call so fast he wouldn’t even...

N-? What did that mean? Was he... was he saying No?

Accepting deliveries

This is the worst part of being a receptionist. Parcel services and bike messengers will constantly be dropping off enormous boxes for people that may or may not actually work at your office. Often you will have to lug the parcels to people’s offices because they never pick them up themselves.

You may also begin to notice the frequent birthdays of your fellow employees, and some of them may seem to have multiple birthdays within the same week due to the ridiculous amount of flowers that are delivered almost hourly. I don’t have any personal hatred of flowers or anything, but when they are sitting on your desk, people have a tendency to stop and coo and fawn all over the bouquet. They will of course want to know who they are for, and will not hesitate to ask you even while you’re on the phone or trying to sleep. This may be worse for you if you’re male, I’m not sure why... I guess guys just don’t feel comfortable sitting up to their foreheads in roses or tulips.

When you actually have to deliver the flowers to the employee’s desk, she will thank you in such a passionate way that makes you feel as though the flowers were from you, personally. This can make you feel anywhere from extremely uncomfortable to highly aroused, depending on the employee, your sexual preferences, and whether or not you’re wearing silk boxers.

Another note: florists, despite their names, do not only deal in flowers these days, as you will surmise when, along with the flowers, several enormous balloons arrive at your desk. One side of the balloons is a cheerful birthday message, while on the other is a highly-reflective surface reminiscent of taut, shiny tinfoil. You know the ones. How many hours have I had to sit at a desk, forced to stare at my huge, distorted head reflected in the back of one of those balloons? I cannot say.

Dealing with Visitors

This is the worst part of being a receptionist. When you work at the front desk of many offices, you not only have to handle phone calls but vendors, contractors, messengers, and family members of the employees. This is where you run into one of the two major drawbacks of wearing a telephone headset. If you don’t actually have a phone in your hand, visitors and people in general won’t realize you’re on the phone and just start talking to you.

The other major drawback is having a hunk of plastic jammed irretrievably into your ear canal.

Vendors, by far, will cause the most amount of problems. For some inexplicable reason, they are taught something called cold-calling, where they just drop by without an appointment and ask to meet with someone. I’m not sure why they call it cold-calling... maybe because when they do it you want to call someone to kill them and make their bodies cold, ‘cause, you know, when you die, your body gets... cold... and... okay, that was lame.

This one time I was working a desk for a long distance company and a vendor came into the office. He looked (and I hope I’m not making any major stereotypical observations here) like a Mafia goon. He had lots of rings, an expensive looking suit, slicked back hair, and since I was on the first floor I could see the silver Lexus he had stepped out of.

He asked to see Cathy, who I knew to be one of the office managers. I called her up.

"Oh God," she said when I told her who was here to see her. "I don’t have the time. Tell him to come and see me in a few months. After Thanksgiving."

I was a bit surprised, I mean, he looked somewhat important. I relayed the information and he seemed shocked.

"I don’t understand," he told me. "You have my product. I just need to clean my product and give you some updates. How can I do that if Cathy won’t see me?"

I had no idea, and I wasn’t sure why he needed to clean his product. I figured that maybe he sold printers or some sort of electronic equipment. He made it sound very important.

By this time the phones were ringing and I started to answer them, but he wouldn’t leave. Every time I had a few free seconds he would start in on me again. How was he supposed to do his job? He was being shut out of the loop. He was being ignored. He needed to keep his product in working order.

He wouldn’t go away and there were other people beginning to fill up the lobby. By now I was trying to give him subtle messages that I wanted him to leave (such as drawing little pictures of him being decapitated on my blotter) and he finally got the hint. He tossed a business card on the desk and left the office in a huff. As his car screeched out of the parking lot, I glanced at his card. Turns out the guy was a rubber stamp vendor. Rubber stamps. No wonder Cathy wouldn’t see him. Who the hell cares about rubber stamps? And he needs to clean them? What sort of expert labor would that require? A few swipes with a Kleenex? And that’s called product maintenance?

I’m not one to judge an entire profession on the behavior of one representative, but vendors are total losers. I hate them all. You should too.

Callers With No Sense of Humor

I try to be sympathetic. If you’re working for a large company with lots of branch offices, or, God forbid, a city office, chances are that by the time a call reaches you, it has been through several switchboards and a handful of receptionists. So the caller may be understandably frazzled, and not at all in good spirits. Say the wrong thing to them and, even if it’s well intended, they may simply explode.

An example. I was working for the City of Portland, and I got a call from a woman who wanted to know the location of our offices.

"It’s the Portlandia building, downtown. Fifth Avenue," I told her.

"What streets is that between?" she asked.

"That’s between Fourth and Sixth," I said.

It was only a joke, and I quickly assured her I was kidding and gave her the correct cross-streets for our address. There were a few moments of chilly silence on her end, then:

Ka-boom.

Man, this lady tore me a new poop-chute, and what’s worse, since she was asking what our location was, it meant she was heading downtown to visit the office and I’d have to deal with her again.

So never assume anyone you talk to has a sense of humor. Just give them the facts and get off the line, because there are people out there who can mortally wound via telephone lines.

Another problem with callers is their apparent inability to quickly write down anything you tell them. I don’t know what the deal is, but it can take up to three hours to give someone a phone number. The conversation goes like this:

"Hi. What’s Todd’s number?"

"It’s 823-734-"

"Wait. Wait. Okay… Eiiiiigght….

"Yes. 823-73-"

"Wait. Wait. Eiiiiiggghhht…. Twwwwwoooooooo…."

"3…"

"Threeeeeee…."

"7."

"Wait. Eeeeeeee….. Seeeeeevvvvvveeeeennnnnnnn…"

What could be taking this person so long to take down a phone number? Is he writing the numbers, or carving them out of alabaster? I really makes you wonder how long it took them to dial the phone in the first place.

This is the worst part of being a receptionist.

To the Whiny, Self-Important, Over-worked-Under-paid, Cowards in My Office: I understand that I am the peon in this environment. I know that I have no rights, that your wish is my command, that I am powerless under your whims. I took this job knowing all that. I’m still OK with it (sorta). I just wanted to clarify that I do not like it. I don’t secretly cream myself when you glare at me. I don’t rub myself at night thinking about how much you want to make my life miserable. This is not an enjoyable experience. And I’m not just saying that cause I want you to think that I don’t enjoy it. I know you all. Some of you are sitting in your tiny cubicles (the horror that not everyone, or at least just you has a manager’s cube) writing code for the next great evolution of our mighty software. Others are sitting in their cubes schmoozing on the phone trying to sell that software. The writers hate the sales teams because sales gets all the respect, after all, they make the money. I’m sick of which came first/which is more important. This company wouldn’t be around without either of you, so just accept the fact that you’re both vital. If the sales guys get stroked a little more, just accept it. They have lower self-esteem. Right after a big sale, you could accuse them of being egomaniacs, walking around on cloud nine and generally being a prick. I appreciate that a lot more than I dig you developers’ secret sense of self-importance. It’s a keyboard, a computer, and an idea. It is not a nuclear weapon. It is not a magic lamp. It is what it is. If you are so freakin’ great don’t you think maybe you might have had an original idea of your own to develop AND sell? Then you’d have to hate yourself, huh? But the real problem is that you all secretly hate me, the receptionist. Our great company buys breakfast for you every morning, but here’s a clue: It’s their money, it’s my time. I know you hate me because you think I don’t do anything all day but do my crosswords and surf the internet. Here’s the reality of the situation: I make far less than anyone else in the office, yet I am expected to put up with all your crap. I used to damn near chew my arm off fretting about what to buy (on a budget) for breakfast to make 30 people happy, wait, 29 because I don’t count. Some mornings, the supermarket is over-run by soccer moms (this is especially true when there’s a storm coming or Tom Ridge adds an item to the “Terrorist Preparedness List”). And it takes me a few minutes longer than expected to fight my way through the grocery checkout. Forgive me for getting breakfast out 5 minutes late. Or maybe you could just bitch-slap me and you’d feel better. Just like a wife beater from the 1950’s isn’t that what you really want anyway? A feasible way into a plane of existence where there’s no such thing as “soft wares”? The company tricked me. They hired a receptionist and set forth expectations of administrative assistant to the masses and facilities chick extraordinaire. They pay me as a receptionist. I have not yet cried over it. About my “attitude problem.” I know you think that I don’t do anything all day. This is entirely false. When I’m not fielding questions about where your packages are, taking PlaceWare classes, on a conference call, tracking an invoice, calling maintenance up to adjust the temperature because you are always either too hot or too cold, dealing with whiny SOB’s from the other office that I’m responsible for, opening a helpdesk issue to resovle something that you could resolve yourself if you thought you could, fixing the printer/copier/fax machine because you broke it again, or generally trying to improve my plight – yes, you might catch me checking my hotmail account. Forgive me. My biggest gripe about you though is that you will never gather the nerve to come to me and tell me when something doesn’t go your way. I bend over backwards trying to be accommodating and have never let my smile falter in your presence. How could that possibly be intimidating enough to make you run to my manager with imaginary complaints? If he was on-site more often he would know that I don’t walk around here snapping bubble gum, cursing people out, and dressed like The Nanny. Thankfully, he thinks I just don’t know what’s up in corporate America. I don’t know how to play the game, he thinks, and I think “I know how to play this game, but I just don’t fluckin’ care anymore.” I am currently accepting applications for “Sugar Daddy.” That’s the point it’s come to, folks. I’d rather have a stinky, sleazy, dirty, filthy-rich piece of crap objectifying me than submit to one more day of your slow exploitation. And I hate to even feign being akin to any of you but “Maybe when I’m gone you’ll know how good you had it.” - One Angry Receptionist, aka Your Bitch My MC: A job where people talk shit to my face. And are able to take it back.

BRILLIANT!!!!!! Why I hate answering phones

I'm sommer going to copy and paste ALL of it here, so that I have a future record of it. This's from craigslist, the link is: http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/bos/37845757.html

20 reasons to hate answering phones:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: 2004-07-29, 6:01PM EDT

1. I have a script. Sorry, it's what the boss wants. It's not MY fault that the script is, at a minimum, 12 words long with 16 syllables. But regardless of how long it is and how busy and important you are, DON'T interrupt me you jackass, it's rude.

2. Issue #1's annoyance level is doubled when you're a regular caller and you STILL interrupt even though you KNOW what I'm going to say.

3. You aren't cute. No really, you aren't. When I say "May I tell her who's calling?" saying "You May" instead of giving me YOUR NAME, JACKASS makes me want to shoot you.

4. I am a receptionist, not a non-entity. Listen to me. My name is -------. It is not Madeline, it is not Valerie, it is not Sally, it is not Michelle, it is not Maggie.

5. Oh, and I don't care who your wife is, you double jackass, LISTEN TO ME when you call. I'm not my coworker. If you'd LISTEN to me say my name you'd fucking know that.

6. Okay, you want to be Mr. Friendly. Fine. But I have to answer the other 3 calls coming in at the exact same time you have called and I do not have time to talk about how I don't sound like I'm from around here, or how crazy it must be with the convention in town, or how it's tough to get through to --- or how I'm doing today. Shut up.

7. And, ---, you triple jackass, the fact that you always want to chat when you call is triple annoying since you call roughly 30 TIMES A DAY.

8. Telemarketers and cold callers. Don't get me started. This is INFINITELY annoying since my company controls 99 phone numbers...all in numerical order. Which means once a telemarketer dials that first number...they just keep going down the list and for the next 20 minutes I'm subjected to call after call of "This is an important recording from..." and "May I speak to the person in your office in charge of..." and, really, this is the worst, the 'friendly' telemarketer "Hi, Madeline, how are you today?"

9. Why do you dial a number but then start another conversation? When you are calling here BE PREPARED for my mad phone answering speed, jackass. Don't be in the middle of a frikkin conversation.

10. Okay, maybe this is ethnocentric of me, but if you live here, speak the damn language. I would not move to Baden-Baden and not learn Baden-Badenease. So YOU learn to speak English and then you will be able to understand the damn directions.

11. You are calling a recruiter. Someone who you, hopefully, want to impress so that they will work harder for getting you a job. Don't be rude to the receptionist, dumbass. They are just gonna pass that little bit of information right on to the recruiter. Oh, and know their name and if you don't have a frikkin clue how to pronounce it, then don't try, you sound like a fool. Asking in a jovial way MAY make me like you. Asshat.

12. No, I can not read minds nor predict the future. I have no fucking clue when they will be off the phone. Nor do I know when they will be in the office, be done with their meeting, be back from lunch or when they will call you back. Stop asking.

13. "So and So is on the line right now, may I offer you their voice mail?" This is a yes or no question. It does not require thought. Yes. Or. No. Didn't you have a plan when you called? Haven't you experienced voice mail before? Just answer me damn it!!! Yes or no?

14. And double annoyance points if you complain to me that you've already left a message. Then why the hell are you calling back?!? When they aren't busy anymore they'll call you! (And no, I DON'T know when that will be.)

15. Triple annoyance points if you start argueing with me when I won't "put you through" to the client. They are on the phone, working. You are not their only client, fuckstick.

16. Clients, most of you don't suck, but I've got better things to do than sit on the intercom while you "Um...right...John Doe...um...you know..." You either want to talk to John Doe or you don't, stop being a dumbass.

17. How do I know they're on the phone right now? How do I know they aren't at their desk? Okay, okay, you got me. I'm just lying. They're standing RIGHT THE FUCK here and I'm just LAUGHING MY ASS off at you instead of putting the call through.

18. Speaking of which, you lazy fuck clients who work from 10 or so until 2 or so. I find it morally repulsive that you want me to lie for you so that people think you're working when you aren't. Lazy. Fucks. Do your own lieing, okay?

19. THIS IS NOT A FAX LINE.

20. Cheryl. Cheryl, Cheyrl, Cheryl. *shakes head* I know how hard it is to trust, honey. I know how difficult it is. Maybe he's cheated in the past. Maybe he's a liar. Maybe he's a cold heartless bastard who never calls. Maybe he ignores you when he's home, which isn't much because he's at work all the time. BUT STOP CALLING TWICE EVERY FUCKING HOUR!!!! I'll make you a deal, okay? You stop calling twice every hour and the minute I see your husband fuck somebody in the elevator or hear some breathless Marilyn-sings-Happy-Bday-Mr.Pres-voiced chick call and ask for her super stud, I'll call you and let you know. this is in or around An office

I HATE THIS DAMN PLACE!!!

Ok WHY exactly am I so ANGRY at this worthless place? Well, for one thing, because the stupid cellphone router thing is faulty and I *have* phoned them and yet they take forever and everyone here keeps nagging "is there something wrong with the phone line?" and bugging me about it. I CAN'T magically FIX the goddamn thing, ok people?

What else: oh yes, I'm having my weekly No-Lunch Thursday which puts me in a real charming mood ANYWAY.

I want to go somewhere, for a few days, just think about nothing really. Blob around and do FUN things, whenever whatever takes my fancy. I want to be able to eat a *whole* sarmie without someone interrupting me, whether it be by phone, by door intercom or in person. I want to be able to eat a chocolate where I can enjoy it til the last bit melts away, rather than have to WASTE that last-bit-melting moment by swallowing because the door/phone/person has bothered me. LEAVE ME ALONE I'M EATING A CHOCOLATE!!! Damn you!

Waste of one of those fleeting heavenly moments! ARGH!

Ok yes, as you may be able to see, I'm nearing the point of going postal. Ok not really but still. There is only SO much of this sort of thing a person can tolerate.

Ok. I'm breathing. It *is* nearly weekend. There are only just over 5 weeks left til the office closes. Ahh summer freedom.

Heard on the radio news this morning about a drug bust involving 4 ppl at a block of flats, and they basically described where G's flats are although we aren't sure. Which is strange, seeing how we'd stopped by at his flat yesterday evening, to pick up stuff before going to my place. And we'd walked past this dude who seems to use the stairwell to push his drugs. He sits there with his goodie-bag (including needle etc). QUITE the charmer!!! He was knocking on the door of one of the flats, and his friend was sitting in the stairwell like usual. Hmmm, is it? Isn't it?

The fish are all fine. One of the female congos has a habit of swimming in a tight little circle. It is only one of them because I observed her very carefully and well, they aren't identical so I'm sure it's only that one. Very weird but a cute quirk.

Aw I had a lot more things to blog about but I forgot. Ah well, will resume later I guess. Going to try choke down some chips now.

Oh and another thought...

...I am not a broodmare, I'm a fine frisky filly

And yes, I do realise that the posts are in the wrong order, that's a bug with blogger beta (pfff!). So this post will appear UNDER the previous (older) one from today.

3 months! ...only?

Feels like it's been much longer than that. In a good way, hehe! Went out for a celebratory date with G to a restaurant at the Waterfront. Had a RATHER nice pasta! Didn't get to have any dessert or anything since we were both VERY VERY FULL!

*kehkehkeh*

Did a waterchange on Sunday as the water was rather brown again. This time it took 2 weeks to get that dark. Hopefully the wood is nearly done with leaching.

I'm going to move the fish from the little tank into the big tank with all the other fish soon. I reckon they're gonna be surprised at the huge space and the HUGE congos, but Captain Kuhli Loach will be in HEAVEN! So many places to HIDE!!!!!!!!! Doubt I'll see much of him after that!

I'm really dying to get some marbled hatchetfish but the tank is already full and it'd be overcrowded.

Funny how the congos have a totally different manner to the rest of the tetras. At times one of them will swim in a tight circle, basically just turning around on the spot. Rather weird, like a dog chasing its tail.

Ok, altogether not a pleasant experience.. comedy of errors I think not!

Ok just to warn anyone reading: I might take a long time to write this post, due to the fact that I have a lot to read: 4 Financial Mails and a Noseweek... AND I'm having my coffee and doing work (at times) too. Not that it affects how you read the post anyway, just thought I'd try make everyone envious of coffee and magazines... heh heh heh!

Saturday afternoon trip to Cavendish. Basically to window shop and get inspiration for Christmas presents. Managed to sort out Mom's and my sis's gifts - YAY :D 2 down!!

Walked around for quite a while then decided to get some lunch. The place we wanted to go to was packed and there was quite a queue outside so it'd have taken us about an hour or so to actually get seated. So we went to the same place we went last time, the place I got moldy toast from. We thought "it can't be bad EVERY time, can it?"

We were seated immediately, the waiter was there straight away and we first ordered our drinks (caramel hot shot mmmmmmmmmm). When the drinks arrived we ordered our meals.

G's and my meals arrived, but his was wrong. They'd given him the half-portion of something similar to what he had ordered. My meal was fine but I waited for his meal to be sorted before starting - we were chatting about stuff anyway. They promptly brought his meal, which was STILL wrong - they'd brought the FULL portion of the wrong thing. G called the waiter back and asked him for a menu, so that he could show him what exactly it was that he'd ordered. A more senior waiter came to ask what was wrong so G showed him on the menu what he'd ordered and well it was more than obvious that what was on the plate was not what G was pointing at.

So anyway, his plate was taken away and I started on my food. Had a forkful, was chatting to G about how terrible it was that they mixed up his food, and was cutting a second forkful when I noticed something odd in my food. Scooped it out with my knife, spread it out on the side of the plate and was AMAZED to find it was a caterpillar. Unmistakeably a caterpillar. It had all 6 stumpy little legs as well as that strange foot thing on its tail that it uses to walk. Used* to walk, since it was dead.

When the waiter came back with G's 3rd-time-lucky meal, I showed him the caterpillar and he took the plate away. A little while later a rather effeminate manager came to apologise and explained that they get the greens fresh off the farm (evidently!) and they don't use pesticide (evidently too!) but they do wash it all first (not so evident).

"I'll take it off your bill" sure but not even an offer of a free coffee or anything.

Shmuck has Bean and Gone, not to return.

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum

Took a stroll down to Clicks with G during lunch, got a cooldrink each as well as some other treats.

We'd just had pies for lunch and I'd felt very much like a cream soda cos someone else nearby had one - I haven't had a cream soda for a LONG time - so I bought myself one. Only when I'd paid at the till, I saw I'd somehow got a Sprite! Ok maybe I took the wrong thing from the fridge but I highly doubt that, considering that I had to specially FIND the cream sodas in the fridge and didn't just automatically grab a coke.

I still am wondering if we were in some Candid Camera show... where they may have swapped the cooldrink while I was putting my change into my purse...

BIZARRE!!!!!

Testing an issue with blogger

bloggablogblog... will this work properly?

Ok I tested it and it's not having the same problem again, but I can't seem to fix the other two posts. The post with the two mercs comes after the post above it (they somehow published it as if I'd written it at 12am?!)

Today is Torturous Thursday - no lunch(break) today... and I'm HUNGRY!!!!

Thimble For The Day

Wednesday, November 01, 2006

Uhh

One of those days.

BLEHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got (basically) crapped on by hbbm cos I took msgs instead of hunting for him and putting calls through to him wherever he was (he was in with the directors...), then by the accountant for "mislabelling" something, then one of the bosses said he IS here for lunch when he'd told tealady he wasn't and I SHOULD have phoned her to let her know since she was out buying the OTHER boss's lunch so I got a bit of a blabla from her (blabla stupid shit), and then when I'm already DYING to just WALK OUT THE DOOR for a BREAK, the BLOODY printer service-man comes at 13:02 when I'm all ready to LEAVE! G's outside waiting for me. And of course the printer doesn't do its thing so the guy leaves without doing a THING. And by then it's 13:15 and G's been waiting outside having already bought pies+chips+chocs for us (prebought to "save time" since I only get 45mins lunch break - uh whatever). UHH!!!!

Oh and add to that a dum task. DUM so dumb it doesn't have a B. ~Find accommodation for 2 people near Bishops, for 6 nights in two weeks' time, self-catering only~. One of THOSE tasks. *insert big-ass groan and emphatically rolled eyes here*

Ooh add to that: I printed a fax for the accountant, so she gets it out of her pigeon-hole and says "aye? I didn't book any recently".. it was a printout confirmation of a booking from WEEKS ago, but for some FUCKING UNKNOWN reason the fax program reshuffled everything so a fax from 22 september showed up as a "new fax", which I printed. Yay, so anyway I tell her when she walks away "I'm so sick of this program... oh and the IT guy says he'll be in on monday to sort out all the computers".. and she looks back at me while walking away like "uh yeah right... whatever (worthless piece of ^&$#@%)" whatever!

And I can't and won't be able to afford a merc any time ever (no, not "any time soon", any time ever). Ah silly dreams... whatever.

Today seems cranky, irritable and annoyed.

At least it's heading on for 4 o'clock... yay... I hope my fish are ok and pietugh isn't there tonight... ugh.

*** HIGHLIGHT OF THE AFTERNOON*** a lady came into the office asking for the Indian Consulate and I pointed her down the road. Yay~

Testing this new thang!

Blogger's new log-in and all that jazz.

Wanna test the instant publishing thing... I HATE that "0% published" thing!

No news... will blog again sometime later, most probably.

Lemme post a pic.

What's that Merc?

Been surfing the net a bit (OK, a LOT!!) now, been looking for a website which shows basically all types of mercs, through the years. Like a kinda chronology of mercs. There isn't anything like that that I can find, but I have found some pics of LOVELY old mercs. Ahh, check these out: the car and the dashboard. Take a look at that wood panelling! Ahh, that's the stuff of memories - my grandpa used to have a merc very much like this, I think it was just the 4-door one.

These are some of the ones I'd like:

Do Fish Go To Heaven?

If not, where do they go?

Two of my fish (in the big tank) are "missing". At last sighting, they were sick and swimming around erratically. One was a big-ass black neon, the other a teenytiny neon. They have disappeared. Either the snail ate them or they have swum to the big fishtank in the sky...

The tank is looking stunning!!!!!!! The Congos are gorgeous. One of the rummynoses seems to have an odd habit: it swims underneath a glowlight, as if it were a baby whale swimming under the mother whale. Except picture it at high-speed cos the glowlight keeps trying to get away! Odd! It's not as if the rummy is BITING the glowlight, it just ... "follows" it like that. VERY WEIRD!!!!!!!

I'm a bit of a rummynose myself at the moment: went to the Noordhoek Country Fair on Sunday and got a bit sunburnt. I have a rather detailed watch-tan and a red nose!

Ok I'm TRYING to blog but G's sending me links to cars... he (and I) want all of them... ah if only...!

AHHHHHH check THIS beauty out!!!

Here's the specs etc.

Want want want want want!!!!!!!!!!!

On Friday night G and I went to Shmuck & Has-Been for supper. Different branch to the one last time. Ordered a caramel hot-shot (man they are SO DELICIOUS!!)and a bacon and egg toasted sandwich with sunnyside up (runny) eggs (the waiter asked specifically how I'd like them done). I didn't order the optional extra (mould on the bread) but I got it for free anyway. Sent it back, and promptly got another sandwich. Or was it another? Upon investigation, I determined that it was the same sandwich, just different bread... The eggs weren't runny, in fact they'd already run, and the bacon had egg on it from where it'd previously run (when I broke the egg checking out the mould on the first sandwich). I didn't even get a new tomato+lemon. After persevering for a while, I gave up: pre-run eggs and rubbery bacon on dry toast wasn't worth the effort of chewing!

Along the religion lines...

iGod - new from Apple

HAHAHAHAHAHAH

Jesus FUCKING ROCKS!!!

HAHAHAHAH!!!!

OOh something very freaky - I'll NEVER let my place ever get like THIS place!

Ok everyone collects things and hangs on to things, thinking "I'll do that when it's a rainy, indoors kinda day..." and NEVER gets around to doing them... BUT JEES!!!!!!!!

Went to the doc yesterday (got off work at 4pm YAY!!!); I have a throat infection which was caused by allergies (hayfever) which wasn't being treated because my body had become desensitised to the antihistamine I'd been taking. Got a new antihistamine. Not supposed to cause drowsiness or anything, but after taking it I got into bed and suddenly could hardly move. I was just ... so ... TIRED!!!

HAHA that was quite fun!

Busy weekend ahead, hanging out with friends and stuff like that! Ideal weekend stuff!!

I am not kitajski

Found out the meaning of kitajski, finally!

Seems it's Russian, Bulgarian, Slovenian... etc... interesting!

Will stick more things in here when I get inspiration - today is not a very inspired or energetic day.

Stuff

As you might notice, I've been messing around with my blog adding cool stuff. Still want to change a few things, add things, etc.

HTML yay!

Nothing is going on at the moment. Well, not right now at least. It's almost lunch time (20 mins to go).

One thing about having a partner - bf/gf depending on what your preference is ;) - is your social life gets a bit busier! Hang out time with friends doubles cos there are now two sets of friends. Also, usually it's on the weekend... so weekends seem more busy than the workweek!!

Ok I *am* trying not to blether on about the fishtank so much, but here I go again: I'm going to try take photos of the tank soon and post them here. Stay tuned!

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!! HIDE!!! THEY'RE COMING....

Wanna see this when it comes out... ;) (click the pic :P )

Ok did a waterchange...

and the tank is looking STUNNING! The fish are AWESOME! The lighting isn't bright enough but the change in water makes such a huge difference! Only problem: can't take a decent photograph!

G and I went for lunch yesterday after shopping and had a *rather* entertaining time! Add to that our amusement at some guy's blatant ass-checking as he and some chick passed each other in the mall!!!!

Traffic into Town this morning was HORRENDOUS! Half an hour late, what for? Some chappie whose car had choked off and wouldn't restart, which didn't really cause any trouble, cos although it is a two-lane road, we could easily pass him on the shoulder of the road, no problem. Still the traffic was bad, after that... up til where we passed two cars and a metro police car on the SIDE of the road, obviously a bit of a (bad) ding - the one car's bumper and front grille were conked inwards a bit. As we passed that the traffic dissipated into NOTHING! WTF??? Was the traffic so bad because people wanted to RUBBERNECK?????? omg people COME ON!

Our work internet seems to be used up (already?!?!? It's only the 23rd!!) so the net is slow now. Probably cos of people viewing webcam and movie clips aye?????? Hmm.

Nothing much else is new...

MY FISH ARE SO GORGEOUSCUTEBEAUTIFULSTUNNING ahhhhhhhhhhsummmmmmmmm!!!!!!!

Project: Find New Fish Supplier

Since Aquaworld closed down/was closing down (and I emailed them with no reply so I'm guessing they have already), I needed to find a new fish supplier. Went through the yellowpages looking for "nearby" ones, basically any in the southern suburbs.

Started out at Cavendish, checked out a few petshops nearby in Kenilworth, Claremont... etc. The one place was a nursery too, so G got some new plants for his flat - his others died a long time ago and are now fossils. This place had the hugest collection of different goldfish species, but just about all of them were sickly and dying. Then drove out looking for Ottery, and were extremely disappointed. Each place was more dismal than the one before it. The one in Ottery was supposedly a HUGE place with EVERYTHING, but they didn't actually have much and when I told the guy what I was looking for he kinda went "woah, expensive fish... we don't get those often" which isn't what I wanted to hear.

It was also a sticky burning hot day, and our bottle of coke went warm rather quickly. Although he didn't seem peeved, I would have fully understood had G become annoyed at driving around finding each of these places, only for me to go "uhm, there's nothing here" every time.

So after about the 6th place, we decided to call it a day, but that we'd try to find the place that was en route to my place. Hunted around, drove around in plenty of circles and finally found it. WELL WORTH IT! This place was infinitely better than all the other places combined! They had a whole room of tanks, 4 shelves of tanks on each wall, stocked with a huge variety of fish and lots of plants. Outside the 'fish room' they had a room full of accessories and equipment, and they have a fridge for frozen food for your fish. Man am I impressed!!!!

I couldn't find any congo tetras, rummynoses, cochus blues or marble hatchetfish, so I asked the lady who worked there if I can order some and she said they got marble hatchets in last week and they have congos and rummynoses now. Somehow, being in such awe of the place I'd missed them! So, I bought 8 congo tetras (4 males and 4 females), and all their rummynoses (5, although I'd counted 6 - maybe one of them jumped out while the assistant was catching them). Bought lots of plants too, as well as a check-valve and some more ich medicine.

After getting home I introduced the new fish into the tank. The tiny neons I got last week are so completely dwarfed by the huge congos. At one stage I thought a neon had been chomped by a congo, but I think they're all there (I do a headcount every time I look at the tank hehe). The water is really dark though from the wood but for some reason, the fish LIKE it. A pair of black neons were mating yesterday, and as I type this, there are a pair of congos who are seriously flirting, the male chasing the female around the tank.

Going to do a waterchange shortly, but right now I'm going out with G to the shops and to get lunch... Mugg&Bean mmm!

Maybe next week I will have some hatchetfish and cochus blues too!

Project Fishtank: status - active!!

YEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Boring Poem

There once was a boring girl

with a curl, in the middle of her forehead

when she was good she was boring

and when she was bad she was intolerable

iPod Thursday

Bored again, yay.

Think my glandular fever has reared its head, apparently it'll do that every now and then. SUPERYAY. Got a tiny sore bit in my throat... and the gland in my neck never really went down.

LOVE talking about diseases!

GAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!

(yay)

Went with G to Gardens Centre on (Monday?), he needed to buy a few things and I got a chance to check out Perky Pets. They aren't really. There were a few (cute) rummynoses, looking desperately at me as if crying out "rescue us!!". They didn't look too ill but there were other (gross) tanks, with dead fish and sick fish.

HAHA anyone going to CT airport, check out the pharmacy (the one with all the gifts and stuff, it's so full it hardly LOOKS like a pharmacy). On their counter they've got one of those TINY little plastic fish containers, with one lone zebra danio. That thing is so sickly, I think it's got fish TB: it's back is twisted. Delightful!

YAY going fish shopping on Saturday, got a whole list of "nearby" shops, going to have to drive around pretending to be "in the area, popping in while walking around". Hmm. I just hope the place in Ottery is good so that we don't have to! ;)

OK I think I can SHUT UP ABOUT FISH ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will try to have at least ONE POST after this with NO MENTION of fish. I'll try! I can't guarantee it but I'LL TRY!!

Heeheehee.

Good Luck 'Bone, you've been studying stukkend, and you should do WELL in this exam! Good luck!

Eating sarmies now. Yes I blog too much and about BORING THINGS. Sorry. Blabla :P

News and stuff

Back to (ugh!) work UGH now, after a lekker weekend.

Friday evening went with G to a party at one of his colleagues' house. Lekker braai and drinks, just had a chilled chatty time. The guy whose house it is is RATHER funny!!!

Saturday morning, went with G to do "laundry". We went for brunch with his dad to a nearby shopping "mall" and there was a petshop there so naturally I took a look at the fish and OMG THEY HAD CONGO TETRAS and OMG THEY ARE STUNNINGNGNGNGNGNGNGN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would have liked to buy them but thought "nah, Rob's going to be getting them in for me".

Then stopped by at my place and rushed over to Aquaworld. Hung around a bit cos they weren't open, which seemed strange but I thought they were closed for a smoke-break or something and I'd said I'd stop by at about 1 (it wasn't 1 yet). Then just past one, Rob (the Aquaworld guy)'s wife opens up the shop and stuff, so I go in to buy fish. The tanks look a little empty and I ask "haven't any fish come in?" (since a whole stack were supposed to be delivered the Friday). Nope, cos apparently they're closing down.

THEY'RE CLOSING DOWN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooo
OOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooOOOOOOOOoooooooooOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOoooooooooooOOOOOOOOOooooooooOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo~!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I bought all their neons (there were only 13) and 2 HUGE glowlights (must have been there for AGES), as well as 5 (also MASSIVE) black neons which he's had in the shop for a long time (no-one's bought them). Got them to "chuck" in my big tank cos they'd be tough enough to stand any "problems" if there ARE any.

They seem 100% fine, the neons have a small bit of ich but I'm treating them. Pushed the water temp up to 30 and they seem ok with it. Boy oh boy do the black neons rush around enjoying the large tank! Man but they're HUGE too! I've kept my "old" fish in the tiny tank, they're happy enough where they are and I don't want to mix them all up yet (quarantine etc).

So now I've got to find a new fish-supplier. Think there's a largish place in Tokai, but not sure. According to the yellowpages and a colleague there's a HUGE place in Ottery, so we'll go drive around and take a look on Saturday.

Ok now I CAN'T WAIT for the weekend again.

Sunday sis, G and I went up Rhodes memorial and also walked around a bit (I've been wishing I could go lie on the grass above the freeway but it's where the animals are so it's fenced off and you can't get there). The weather was good and the view was very cool. Sat on the "balcony" and just stared out for quite a while.

My tum hurts today. I don't feel sick really, not nauseaus or anything and I hope it doesn't start... but this tum-ache isn't fun.

5fm 'Screw the Playlist' day!

Yeehaaaaa, hooked up my cellphone with earphones and I'm sitting listening to 5fm now. The reception is AWFUL where I sit, but at least I can hear the music!

Ok they're playing some AWESOME songs! People requesting songs, NOT-playlist stuff, which is great.

G and I are sitting 15mins away, listening to the same thing, discussing the songs on MSN. Cool!

YAY it's Friday today! Braai later, and Syndicate tomorrow evening, as well as FISHHHHHHHHHHHHHH shopping tomorrow!!! I hope the tank is settled enough for the fish and that I don't have a case of new-tank syndrome (where all the fish die!).

Damn! It's not even 10:30 yet! Man today's taking long.

Wheeeeeeee it's a GORGEOUS, funky Friday!

Oh and: 61 days!!!!!!!! Long Live The Invisible People!

Odd stuff and Excitement

Found something ODD hehe. ASCII Cows

The fishtank is looking stunning so far. The water is now crystal clear, but brownish. Will get my new beebees on Saturday, along with the 20w light fitting and hopefully plants!!!! Yes fine I repeat things in my blog but hey I'm EXCITED! :D Will do another large waterchange and bring the pH down and then put the fish (and plants) into the tank... I *SO* CANNOT WAIT!!!

Driving to work with G this morning was quite fun: yesterday *I* had a SUPER-WOOOOOOO day (NO clue where the energy came from, it just HAPPENED and was SO WOOOOOO), and this morning HE had superwoo hyper energy. We were laughing about other drivers and cars and talking such nonsense. And of course keeping Carlos Santana entertained too!

Rather looking forward to the weekend for other reasons: going to Syndicate on Saturday and on Friday am going with G to a braai with his colleagues.

For some reason right now I'm DYING for a Mugg&Bean caramel-sorta coffee drink thing. I don't remember what it's called but OMG it was SO YUMMMMMM.

Oh and it's Thursday so I can't go out at all and buy any sort of treat. AAAAARGH how WILL I survive?!

Mmmm sarmies!

SHMEHHEBLABLEHH

Shmehh blehh

***** NEWSFLASH - DORITOS MMMMMM (poppy seed with roasted garlic and italian cheese flavour) MMMM YUM *****

Went out during lunch and got a chicken n mushroom pie mmmmmm. And some treats. VERY YUM.

Madonna is apparently adopting a kid from Malawi. The language the newspaper uses in the article about it makes it seem as if she's adopting an animal. "He was presented to her..." Maybe babies of a different race is the new Hollywood Exotic Pet. WTF??

I'm SO impatient for the weekend, to get the fishtank going with fish! And just to be away from work. Man but I feel like a long drive somewhere remote, the weather is just gorgeous for it. G and I are probably going up a mountain or somewhere on the weekend. Hope the weather behaves!!

Oh yes..

the pic I posted a while ago, the drowned-looking little doggies? Before is how you feel before you really get into the work day, and then after is how you are after a (short) while...

Fuck you

I had a Flake.

Fuck you, you fucking loser fucking small-minded little fly-off-the-fucking-handle-I'm-GOD retard.

"How to lose an employee in x-days". Yeah, I've been here a few months short of 3 years but good grief. This is YOUR company. Everyone just WORKS here, they just do the work which makes your company work and you benefit from it. They don't really... they just get their pay but you get all the prestige and accolades and acknowledgement. Fuck them, they don't matter.

Fuck any staff morale. They're not here to party ARE they, hell they're not even here to have lunch or teatime... fuck them, if there's work to be done, that's it.

Fuck me and my not having a lunchbreak on a thursday. And never having a teabreak to actually EAT something before I fucking PASS OUT, just have to sit at my desk choking on fucking sarmies so that I can be falsely friendly to your fucking fans.. I mean CLIENTS.

Whatever.

What am I SO WORKED UP about? Hmm........

Here's a transcript. MSN is far more expressive so I'll leave it like it is:

Kitatski says:
apparently boss dumbass had crapped on someone from another company for not sending him some info on fax
Kitatski says:
and this fax came through just past 1, which i printed after i got back to my desk at 1:45 and OMG I SHOULD HAVE HANDED IT UP TO HIM ON A GOLD PLATE
Kitatski says:
cos it's ooooooooh 2:45 and it's been sitting there for like 4 DAYS wtf
Kitatski says:
i'm not on lunch, typist's not BUSY to come running down to find his faxes, no1 does WORK here, they sit around waiting to pass things up the stairs to him
Kitatski says:
"this is the last warning"
Kitatski says:
what, i'd get fired because you didn't get a fax on time because i was on lunch and like ppl are BUSY to run and LICK YOUR FUCKING ARSE

"last warning" oh yes. fuck you.

Project Fishtank - Status: in progress

Yeeeeeehaaaaa!!

It's coming along!!!

Got two heaters and some plants on Sunday... the heaters work like a charm. Planted the plants... now the tank is looking so much more like how I envisioned it! Need some longer plants for the back of the tank, and a bit of floating plants for the surface. Did a massive waterchange again, the water isn't so badly tanniny now. The light I have is a bit dim (10w), so I'm probably going to get a 20w ballast and put the 15w tube in it.

Got an email with the "fish list" for the week, so I've ordered some beebees!!!! 10 Cochus blues, 10 rummynoses (to go with my 1), 6 glowlights (to go with my 6) and 6 neons (to go with my 4). So on Saturday I should have beebees (and plants). Just gotta sort out the pH first (it's still too high - about 7.2 and has to come down to 6.4 or so), as well as do another waterchange.

Yeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! It's looking fantastic!! I just hope my current beebees aren't SHOCKED when I put them into the big tank: "where the hell are we??!?!"

Went with G to a music shop to buy a replacement amp (his one was stolen - *&^*^$###&*#@@!!!). Listened while he was trying out the amp (with a guitar identical to his one)... VERY cool, even just playing made up stuff. The guy assisting him was really impressed - started tapping his foot and moving his head to the music. Probably a VERY welcome change from the usual "I'm gunna be a raakstaah mannn!" 3-chord dudes.

Oooh, *interesting* article in FM: "10 ways to turn your staff on... and 5 ways to lose them". Their 5 ways to lose your staff are:

1. Unfair remuneration and lack of recognition.
2. Treating staff like robots, not individuals.
3. Unequal treatment.
4. Lousy communication.
5. No career or growth opportunities.

Hmm... VERY interesting. But here's their "top 10 ways to turn your staff on":

1. Development and career opportunities.
2. Fair reward and recognition.
3. Leadership by example and through vision.
4. Open two-way communication.
5. Treat staff as individuals and with respect.
6. Trust your staff.
7. They must understand how their job contributes to the business.
8. A clear performance management system.
9. Team spirit and a common goal.
10. Ensure a healthy work/life balance.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

um...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA righhhhhhhhhhtttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, uhm, HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No I'm not laughing at their 10 points, just that um.. we don't HAVE any of those!!!!!!!! hahahahahahah

Uhhh!

Tuesday?

Brought my iPod with me to work today... and then kept forgetting about it. It's past 3 and I'm sitting listening to some tunes: Super Extra Gravity - Cardigans.

Quite enjoying my new CDs, so glad I found that 2nd Shivaree CD. They aren't really well known, heard Bossa Nova years ago when watching an American top40 programme.

The tank water seems to have gone brown already, probably will do another waterchange this week. The heater seems kaput, plugged it in and it DID work but then I think it died. Was going to buy a 2nd one but now I have to buy two. No email from the aquariumshop guy about the fishlist for this week.

Hbbm is away tomorrow, in Mauritius. Both the bosses were away today, so it's been quite quiet. Messengerguy went off sick this afternoon hehe, maybe making the most of the quiet afternoon sans bossmen.

An hour and 10mins til hometime.

Back blogging again

Ok yes, my job is boring.

Ok it's now like 30mins after I like typed that and like nothing has, like, happened.

*cough* *splutter*

Multivitamins.

I have to take mine...

I have had my turn to cough at G but now that I've recovered, it's his turn to cough at me. Caught from different people at different times, so it's probably the same thing just mutated! Yay. Hope I don't get sick again...

*yawn* I am trying to blog but my mind is blank.

There was a yuck spider next to the printer near me but I whacked it with a writing pad. It was very gross (big jumping spider - ughhhh).

Woooohooo! Yes! Remembered something to blog about: did a huge waterchange yesterday, changed about 50% of the water and now the tank looks much better. Desperately in need of plants, and I might just have to buy a 15W light ballast cos the 10W lighting is a bit dim... depends how it looks once it's all finished cos I want to have lots of plants and a dark background... maybe the subdued lighting will make the fish stand out a lot... will have to see. Nothing major. *checks for email from aquariumshop guy about fish-order*

Nothing yet.

Went to Cavendish on Sat, met up with G's parents and met his sister. Hung out a little there, got a CD I've sort of been looking for: Shivaree (Rough Dreams). I recently got their latest album, rather unusual stuff hehe. Want to get their other album too.

Oh yay and IE crashes.

bye for now

Friday fun...

This has been a *long* (short) week.

I am bored at work now.

Checked on the fishtank last night, and it doesn't stink anymore. The water is like strong tea though cos the wood is leaching tannins like MAD. Gotta do a huge waterchange the weekend. Just emailed the aquariumshopguy to "order" fish! Yay!!!!!!! Going to have new beebees maybe by next weekend (that's when I can introduce them all into the big tank...)

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyYYYYYYYYYYYYyyyyyyyyYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok *breathes*... yes I'm excited about it.

Not much else is news... want to go clothes shopping for summery stuff but before I do that I have to dig out all the "packed away" clothes and put away all the winter stuff. That way I won't buy extra stuff hehe!

Was supposed to be 31 in Town today but I'm FREEZING! And I don't even have a warm top to put on over this shirt... blehhhhhhhhhhh Murphy I'm going to hunt you down and do nasty things to you which will make you wish I'd simply killed you!

Will blog more as I get more bored...

What aspect of Water are you?

What Aspect of Water Are You

You are the running water aspect. You are quick and positive. Running water stems from springs, which can mean you feel a connection to earth, and running water (in the form of streams, rivers, etc) strives to reach its goal, the sea, just as you strive towards your goals. The farthest aspect from yours is rain, and your blue is shimmery, dark-light blue.

Ok more bla for today

Doesn't seem to be my week I guess.

This workplace is petty.

Ok there are 3 bosses and handbagbossman (from now on referred to as hbbm). The two bosses are "my" bosses and the third is not my boss (different co/department). Hbbm WAS a boss but now he's just an "old fart" to quote his daughter.

The notmyboss dude is rude and spoilt and all that jazz... not particularly pleasant and just not nice. None of his secretaries last very long cos he makes them crazy. The latest one left for the UK for a month, and would let him know after the month whether she's coming back or not, apparently she wanted to resign but he didn't want her to. Anyway, so she arrives here this morning to see him at 9, and she tells me he saw her as she was coming to the building cos he was coming to the building ahead of her. He told me when he got in "if X comes, tell her to wait in the boardroom, I've booked it for 9". So anyway, she comes in a little after he does and we chat a little, ppl passing in the reception area chat to her and stuff and cos someone else was still busy in the boardroom (before 9) I didn't phone him, and besides he knows she's coming at 9 (and usually he gallops downstairs to shit on people who haven't booked the boardroom and encroach on his timeslot). So anyway, he doesn't come down and colleague asks "did you phone him... blabla" and X says "nah don't bother... he saw me etc..." and she seemed miffed cos he generally is rude and it's "expected" and it just is so typical that he didn't come down and she wasn't happy with him anyway and stuff blablablabla. So then he phones downstairs and asks me whether she's there and then craps on me basically for not phoning him.

ANYWAY, it was a VERY brief meeting, not a cheerful one I guess - seems she's back in SA but not back at this co.

He probably rushed upstairs to rubbish me to the other boss/es... which isn't out of the ordinary here.

Now a short while ago, a (new) colleague comes in with a cake - it's his bday and he needs the cake cut... one cake (not a complete cake, it's already had slices taken out of it) cut into 19 slices. Tealady's off sick and typist lady says 'nuh-uh' she's not going to attempt that so I have to. She listens to the phone until hbbm comes running downstairs and exclaims that he needs typist lady like NOW and stemmie must sit at the phone. Stemmie is the temp who has been standing in for me on and off, when I was in hospital, when I was in Aus, when I was off sick with glandular fever, etc but left at the beginning of the month I think. But now she's back with the "other" dept. So anyway, typist isn't able to come to the phone, so I phone upstairs for stemmie to come down cos it's like 5mins nothing hectic, just so that I can cut carefully and not have to run and answer the phone with chocolatey fingers etc. So the lady (that boss's wife) says no, that boss has said they've employed stemmie for the month and I must find someone else to do it.

CHARMING.

5 fucking minutes, jees. Like, whatever.

PETTINESS. Fuck you, man. Shit place.

Still sick...

Nearly coughed my lungs out yesterday so I got an appointment to see the doctor that afternoon. Left work at 12 cos it was a 15:15 appointment - 1hr home and then 15mins to doc... give and take, and no point coming back after work. That's either by car OR by train.

Throat infection/thing like that, got a heap of medicine. Antibiotics, probiotics, super-strength antihistamine to kick-start the anti-allergy effect, must keep on with my normal antihistamine, plus nasal spray. Ooh and: COUGH SYRUP!!! Strong stuff which makes you feel like a "space-robot" (to quote the doc), so I can only take it at night... BUT YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!! I *SLEPT* last night!!!!!!

The accountant came to give me my payslip earlier and informed me that the directors had decided that the friday I'd taken off as leave would have to stay as leave and not become sick leave cos it's basically "tough luck" if you get sick while on leave (which wasn't the issue... I got sick BEFORE I was on leave). She also said that the one (uhh) boss apparently asked what was wrong because it just said "attended GP" on my doctor's certificate. Like he can't hear me coughing all the time and stuff.

What is the best way to make your employees untrustworthy? DON'T TRUST THEM. Doubt them and question them and suspect them of everything you can possibly imagine, give them the 3rd degree on everything under the sun. Think the worst when anything happens. Yes I *have* ranted about this before, but I really was quite unpleasantly surprised when I phoned in after my op to let the bosses know that the surgeon had booked me off for a certain amount of time and the boss's response was "oh well, if *that's* what he's decided to do". Bla. And when I left early the LAST time to see the doctor, he said to me the next day "people don't usually take a half day to go see the doctor, they usually take an hour or so". Funny to hear a while later from a colleague who's worked here for a LONG time, that when this boss was a "junior" chappie, he was the one out the door the *second* he got a headache. Methinks he suspects everyone is like he was?

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!

Anyway, the other boss came past me a little while ago and asked "so what did the doctor say?". Told him about throat infection, etc blabla, got loads of medication etc so he said "Brooklax is all you need.... be too scared to cough".

So much going on this weekend, it seems. Going to Synd Friday night, bring'n'braai to see M's new place and her "new" pc. Saturday a farewell bring'n'braai for Te before she leaves for Denver, Colorado!!

Finally got the double pump for the tank, temporarily wired it up and started both filters and OMG the tank water STINKS! Proper, stinky river smell. OMG! So yes, a major waterchange is scheduled for this weekend too! *huff*, see, the pump WAS urgent *huff*

ewww stinky riverwater in my BEDROOM!!!!!!!!!

What else is news.

G's also coughing now, he started feeling sick yesterday. At least it's not the same thing I have... but ugh... next I'll get THAT and be sick another time HAHA.

I am SO GLAD this is a short week.

Eww stinky riverwater in my BEDROOM!!!!!!!!!

Post-weekend blaaaa

Ok I'm back at work, after a BRILLIANT AWESOME AMAZING WOW ÜBERSUPERHYPERWOOO weekend!!!!!!!!!!

Bla. Work sucks. Same old same old.

PLUS, I feel so tired from coughing my DAMN lungs out! I think I got a total of 3 hours' sleep the entire weekend and that's NOT cos I got up to MISCHIEF... with a cough like this, triggered every 0.4 seconds, even just TALKING is a mission!!?!?!?! The people in the other units where we stayed must have been banging their fists/heads against the wall out of sheer irritation hearing me cough each night for the entire night!

Didn't even get to move any post-boxes around... I'm sure it would have been fun to confuse someone in Lamberts Bay!

Oh and for the record: There Is Only One. Petrol station, that is. A BP garage. At least it was open and stuff, not like the one in Piketberg (phew but Piketberg smells GROSS - salt pans whatever... smelt like some really gross medical waste dump or something *pukes at the memory*.) And Saldanha Bay is um... um... well pointless. Went there, thinking ooh ahh, Saldanha Bay is Significant - it's not. Nothing there really other than strange kids who pretend to throw rocks at cars. Well, at least we can say ~we've been to Saldanha Bay~

Got sunburnt ankles from lying on the beach enjoying the sun, sand, sea for a bit too long.. but HELL it was lovely! Making sand-mosaics with the sand-"blocks" (the sand had dried thick like a desert-floor).

Had an amazing drive home, about 7 hours' drive, through gorgeous country and over ALL terrain, too! One-car-at-a-time bridges, mountain passes, normal roads, bumpy roads, potholed roads, clay roads, bumpy clay roads, and the highlight of the trip: bumpy, wet, potholed clay mountain pass road, in mist and drizzle. THAT ROCKED!!!!! No spray-on mud here!!!

Went out for supper/chilled out with some more of G's friends, met J+C and X+L (and W). Had a lekker evening, despite not actually getting a chance to say anything due to the fact I was fully occupied with The Cough. Nearly spilt hot tea all over myself too.

BE GONE, YE EVILLE COUGHE YE!!!!!

mMMMmmmmm wimpy mushroom breakfast sounds good around about now!

Isn't he cute????

Off sick

Ugh. Still sick. Coughing more, sore throat and all that jazz.

Rob @aquaworld sms'd to say the pumps had arrived - I sms'd back saying I'd come pick mine up after seeing the doctor. Went to see the doc, seems it's probably a viral infection, made worse by allergies (yay - I'd stopped taking my allergy meds so the allergies just made it worse UHH!). So I've started taking my allergy meds again and have to take anti-inflammatories to bring my glands down to normal size. They're quite big hehe. Doc thinks it MIGHT (might might probably not but not ruled out) be a little bit of glandular fever rearing its head again... apparently it can do that from time to time... NO MAN that sucks :( hope it's not.

Went to the mall "quickly" after seeing the doc, to pick up my medicines, and while I was going to be in the chemist, mom was going to buy a top she'd ordered... and then I'd meet her in another shop. Got my meds, went to the *other* shop, mom's not there, get my stuff, then go to the clothes shop, she's there, paying. We walk together to the *other* shop, and while she's in there ("I'll just be quick", says she), I go to the pie shop cos I'm hungry. Get pies. Eat one. Walk back to the *other* shop, and she's STILL THERE!!!! Appears she's ONLY JUST STARTED in there!!!!!!!! So I go into the shop and explain to her WHY I'd asked that we could HURRY because aquaworld closes at about 5 and Rob is there til 5:15 and I can't ask him to wait til 8pm for me! Oh, she says... what's the time now "5:10 almost" oh... blabla... not important. Not like I've been waiting WEEKS for this pump, or anything. Not that the tank is almost 100% set up and waiting to be wired up to start cycling - need the pump so the filter carbon can activate. No, nothing like that. Not as if I'd asked that we HURRY so that I can actually get it today so that it can do its stuff this evening and while I'm away.

We only get away from the mall at about 5:40. Charmed I was not.

Can't get the pump tomorrow, as we're leaving early in the morning and won't be able to wire it up and start it. Can't get Hosey to fetch it and stuff cos well I'm away the weekend. No point really, ok yeah yay can get it fetched during NEXT week but hello... that means it's all a week later. *sigh*

Ok rant over
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ooh honey&lemon! lemme go heat the kettle and make some brew!!!! Ahh soothing for my throat (ouch).

Gotta pack clothes etc for the weekend.

Mr Invisible's ETA - 20:30 = 2hrs to pack and stuff.

Going to do last min shopping for stuff like milk bread etc probably when we're there.

LONG DRIVE - yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and I'll post a pic of Project Fishtank once it's ACTUALLY COMPLETED! Man, I wanted to get plants too! *tsk!!!*

Project Fishtank - status: paused

Ok, Project Fishtank was never fast-tracked anyway, but we'd planned to set it up last night but yesterday I woke up with a Throat. Yay. Felt ok during the morning but started to feel worse and worse for the rest of the day. Cold shivers, headache, sore throat, itchy cough, all that jazz. Cold shivery to the bone. Got a lift home with Mr Invisible, and... well, basically just went straight to bed! No supper, no fishtank setting up, nada, just bed. Snuggled and snoozed while he had supper, cos it was so nice and cosy in my bed! Apparently my skin was burning hot but I just felt nice and warm. Strange but hey, anything's better than cold shivers.

Tonight, perhaps, we are going to set the tank up. Now that the fever's broken I should be settled enough into my "unwell state" to be able to do stuff. That'd be after he gets back from band.

Got an email from the aquariumshop guy saying the pump I'd ordered/asked for was coming tomorrow, when he'd said (weeks ago) that it'd be "ready on Saturday with your name on it." Hmm... ah the joys of living/working in a "small town" :P Ok not tiny just a kinda slow-mo place! So if I'm off sick tomorrow I can go pick it up.

I hope I feel better soon, as I don't think this weekend would be so fun if I'm all sick. *hold thumbs!!!*

New new new!

Teeheehee!!

Ok I haven't blogged for MONTHS and months, wasn't really that interested in blogging again, just knew that I had this blog lying around (gathering dust hmm).

Anyway, what is news to blog about?!

Been tidying junk in my room today, packed up a few piles of stuff and shoved them in boxes. Gotta pack away two stacks of ornaments/trinkets/odds&ends, no point in having them lying around or trying to find a place to put EVERYthing. Mission: StreamlineMyLife - status: ongoing.

Well... haven't blogged about it: Project Fishtank (100l aquarium) is nearing completion, got to paint the last coat of wood-sealer as well as paint the stand with the metal-paint stuff, get the (double-)pump, got to wash everything one last time, then set it all up and let it run for 2 weeks. Then: FISH SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Setting up the fishtank will be quite a feat, since it'll involve moving the desk+hifi into the centre of my room, move the drawers into the desk's place (will clean the little fishtank at the same time so that the tank will be evacuated and empty and easily moved), and then put the tank and stand where the drawers were. OH MAN I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's gonna look GORGEOUS!!!!!!!

What ELSE is news... hmm...!

we-ell.... I have a new band to be a fan of! DUSK PUPPY! Teeheehee, have heard them live (practising :P ), have heard some demo tracks and some not-yet-mixed tracks, and um.. well I'm turning into a roadie! Ok, besides all that, I'm a fan of the lead-guitarist... HEHEHEHEHEHE, to use his words, he's my "significant other"!

LONG LIVE THE INVISIBLE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!
