Yeeeeeehaaaaa!!
It's coming along!!!
Got two heaters and some plants on Sunday... the heaters work like a charm. Planted the plants... now the tank is looking so much more like how I envisioned it! Need some longer plants for the back of the tank, and a bit of floating plants for the surface. Did a massive waterchange again, the water isn't so badly tanniny now. The light I have is a bit dim (10w), so I'm probably going to get a 20w ballast and put the 15w tube in it.
Got an email with the "fish list" for the week, so I've ordered some beebees!!!! 10 Cochus blues, 10 rummynoses (to go with my 1), 6 glowlights (to go with my 6) and 6 neons (to go with my 4). So on Saturday I should have beebees (and plants). Just gotta sort out the pH first (it's still too high - about 7.2 and has to come down to 6.4 or so), as well as do another waterchange.
Yeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! It's looking fantastic!! I just hope my current beebees aren't SHOCKED when I put them into the big tank: "where the hell are we??!?!"
Went with G to a music shop to buy a replacement amp (his one was stolen - *&^*^$###&*#@@!!!). Listened while he was trying out the amp (with a guitar identical to his one)... VERY cool, even just playing made up stuff. The guy assisting him was really impressed - started tapping his foot and moving his head to the music. Probably a VERY welcome change from the usual "I'm gunna be a raakstaah mannn!" 3-chord dudes.
Oooh, *interesting* article in FM: "10 ways to turn your staff on... and 5 ways to lose them". Their 5 ways to lose your staff are:
1. Unfair remuneration and lack of recognition.
2. Treating staff like robots, not individuals.
3. Unequal treatment.
4. Lousy communication.
5. No career or growth opportunities.
Hmm... VERY interesting. But here's their "top 10 ways to turn your staff on":
1. Development and career opportunities.
2. Fair reward and recognition.
3. Leadership by example and through vision.
4. Open two-way communication.
5. Treat staff as individuals and with respect.
6. Trust your staff.
7. They must understand how their job contributes to the business.
8. A clear performance management system.
9. Team spirit and a common goal.
10. Ensure a healthy work/life balance.
