A late update

Work's been busy this past while - it'll only get busier as it approaches the end of the year. The office closes for two weeks on the 21st Dec. I CANNOT wait. I'm not in a hurry for that time though simply cos of my learners' test.

Friday was a nice day off. The weather was stunning and hot. I didn't really sleep late - was up and about when G left for work. Went online, chatted a bit, stitched a bit, etc. Nothing too exciting. Then G left work, with his co-boss (hehe), picked me up and then we headed off to 10pin bowling. Was a fun relaxed evening - was a low scoring session with quite a few laughs! A few of us then went upstairs to a Chinese restaurant - I had my first ever sushi - salmon, avo and something else fashion sandwiches. Very strange. I think the fact that I burnt my tongue on chicken sweetcorn soup may have altered the enjoyment/taste of it but it was cool.

Saturday morning - we didn't sleep late. Jumped up and danced to the tux-shop - G collected his tux, then we went for a bit of windowshopping and met up with G's mom and pop for brunch. When we got home, we pretty much relaxed a little and then started to get ready for the wedding. You know, spiffying yourself up, etc.

My outfit was AMAZING. Fitted perfectly, the shoes and the bag matched well, I found lovely jewellery to match and everything was just funky! Put on some make-up, something I haven't done for, well, years... Was so fun! G looked gorgeous in his tux. So yum... mmmm

Then we drove to the venue... we were early, we arrived with the venue at the same time as the groom.

Went in, felt very posh, everyone looked so posh, it was fantastic! Eventually Sis and her G arrived. Was a really nice evening, good food, fun and enjoyable time. Essentially it was the wedding reception as the bride and groom (G&H) had got married in Dubai!

Awesome!

Got home rather late, all poshntired!

Sunday? I can't remember. I think we pretty much relaxed. We washed the car and just chilled.

Monday evening we rented two DVDs - 28 Days Later and Farce of the Penguins. 28 Days Later was kinda scary - weird. Imagine the place so quiet! Farce of the Penguins ... now that was... STRANGE. Rated 10 for Language, but HELL there was NO WAY that was fine for 10 year olds. It was very adult, dialogue-wise. They didn't really swear much, they just used filthy language and blatant sexual words and slang. Visuals of animals mating. Not for a 10year old that ain't! We're gonna quietly mention that to the video-shop guy! "maybe stick another label over the '10' rating and say pg16 or something' HAHAHAHA!

*sigh* my pay... it was put into the wrong account... but I managed to sort something out so that the debit orders work fine.

It's now 15:33 and I'm tired. It's been busy, and I'm tired now. This evening we're going to the shops - to return the DVDs, to get a few drinks (tis the party season a-comin' up after all!) and to pop in at the "gallery" shop to see about a quote for framing Warpony. I hope they don't charge so much that I'd have to sell any of my organs! Anyway, if that IS the case, I'm just going to have to buy a cheap-ass frame from a supermarket and stick Warpony in it. Sucks but what else can I do ;) I need all my organs, thank you very much!

Social animals

People are social beings. Social animals sounds like party freaks but anyway.

I was chatting to S about 10pinbowling - G and I went on Friday to his office's "function" - and I was thinking (not about S LOL... I just drifted off on an inner tangent of thought) about why it seems that it's usually the same people arranging things. Don't read this post thinking "oh man why is she bitching" - I'm not pointing fingers saying YOU blablabla. I'm just thinking about how it has been ever since I was small.

From what I can tell, there are two types of socialising. Hanging out and organised parties/occasions.

Because of living far from friends, hanging out is pretty difficult these days. It is still fun to hang out with friends and go attend to business with them - say going to the mall and splitting up and then meeting up for brunch or something.

Organised stuff... like going to the movies, having a party. That's mainly what I'm thinking about. It's always so difficult to get people together to go do something. Pick a movie, pick a date, pick a time, it's so hard to make it suitable for everyone. It's usually the same people organising the occasions, over and over. For eg, G and I have had birthday parties/flatwarming parties, whatever. But my sis on the other hand - now I can't see her organising a party for all her friends: arranging everything beforehand and preparing the food etc etc.

Does everyone wait for someone else to arrange something? Why? Is it cos a party is expensive? What about hanging out with everyone bringing packet of chips/biscuits and having coffee/cooldrinks. Or a bring and share supper. Anything. I dunno, I'm not sure of the point of this post. I just feel lively and want to have fun, do something funky with my friends. But it seems no one else feels the same way. It's so... well, boring. Why not take a break from the usual routine and do something different?

I guess I feel over-lively today. Or contemplative. *shrugs*

Lunch is coming up - maybe G and I can take over the world during lunch - I doubt we'd be back in the office in time though... ;)

Thursday Friday

Today is my Friday for this week - I have taken tomorrow off.

Hbbm is still away, and I am so bored. I'm so sleepy, and there's still an hour and 45 to go. The weather outside is gorgeous - yet another gorgeous day wasted sitting indoors bored.

Things are so exciting now. There is so much going on it's hard to keep my head on and my feet still on the ground. Tonight G's going to the bachelors' party of the guy whose wedding we're going to on Saturday. I'm going to pamper myself while he's out. Tomorrow, while he's at work I think I'm going to sleep late and then just relax. Enjoy the sun, stitch a bit, just take it easy. Tomorrow evening we're going to his office's 10pin-bowling function - can't wait!

Saturday morning we're rushing around sorting out last minute things before the wedding in the evening. I still have no clue what I'm going to do with my hair but I have the jewellery picked out and everything's sorted. Makeup ... erm... I'll have to try a little. I have makeup remover wipes so if I make a mess I shouldn't be in too much trouble.

I'm so excited about my outfit!!! And my shoes! I managed to find COMFY shoes!

No clue what we're gonna do on Sunday. Probably sleep late and then do stuff like wash the car/mow the lawn etc. Monday's PAYDAY! Hopefully my pay will come in promptly, I'm dying to buy some CDs, amongst other things. More important things hehe. Will have to wait til the pay comes in... I'm counting chickens here!!

Yay! "Friday"!!!!!

There are other things that are exciting. They're more like background processes at the moment though: the wedding plans and the Move plans.

We have already sorted out quite a few things for the wedding. We have already booked the venue, the photographer, the musicians, I already have the fabric for my dress (and the dressmaker is in on the plans). We have a minister/officiant in mind, we just have to phone him and chat about things sometime. Things left to arrange: bridesmaids' dresses, flowers, catering, decorations, invites, cake, etc. So much to arrange still, but it's so exciting and not stressful at all. I know what flowers I'd like, we have clear ideas regarding the decor, the invites (and table markers) we're gonna make with G's mom (we have ideas for that too), the caters will probably be the company suggested by the venue. All that's a big thing is the bridesmaids' outfits. Ok and obviously stuff like my hair/makeup/jewellery/shoes. My sis will have a blue dress & S a yellow dress. Not too bright, I was thinking pearly material in pastel blue and pastel yellow. That way they don't end up looking like Smarties (or M&Ms) heehee. Ok but I'm starting to ramble on. I'm sure I'll be able to ramble a LOT in the coming months. I'm sure that there is plenty of time!!

Ok and the other background process is the Move. Australia! It seems more and more definite. I guess we're gonna wait til after the wedding to even think about it much. Eeek!!!! So super-exciting!!!!

Salmon Dance

“Hello boys and girls.
My name is FatLip,
and this is my friend, Sammy the Salmon.
“What do.”
Today we're gonna teach you some fun facts about salmon
and a brand new dance.”

Let me introduce to you a brand new dance
I know you gonna love it if you give it one chance
It's not complicated, it's not too hard
You don't even have to be a hip-hop star!

See anyone can do it, all you need is style
Listen up, peepgang, I'ma show you how
Put your hands to the side, and silly as it seems
and Shake your body like a salmon floating up stream

I float up stream
You know how we do it
You know how we do it again

”All my peeps spend part of their life in fresh water and part of their life in salt water.”

”Wow, very interesting”

”They change round a couple of days after spawning, then we die.”

When I first did the salmon all the people just laughed
They looked around and stood like I was on crack
I heard somebody say out loud
"What the fuck is that? This nigga's dancing like a fish, while he's doing the snap"
But the more I kept doing it, the more they were feeling it
Then I heard some bitches saying "yo that nigga's killing it"
By the end of the night, everyone was on my team
And the whole club was dancing like a salmon floating up stream!

I float up stream
You know how we do it
You know how we do it again

”Most of our friends find their home waters by sense of smell, which is even more keen than that of a dog or a bear.”

”Wow.”

”My family also rely on ocean currents, tides, the gravitational pull of the moon.”

”The moon? Fish pay attention to the moon?! Wow. Who knew?”

I float up stream

”Did you know...”

”What?”

”...That I could go to Japan?...and back.”

”You're kidding me? Amazing. Geez.”

”Polluted water can kill both baby salmon that are developing and the adult salmon that are on their way to spawn.”

”Wow, what a shame. What a shame. Huh.”

“Wow”

”Hey, kids, give it up for Sammy the Salmon
and his amazing salmon dance.
Huh, what ya say?
Alright. Who's hungry?”

Strange week

I have been working on Heremia, I just haven't taken a photo and stuck it here yet. Should do that this evening.

Heremia now has an eye, a nostril and a blaze. But she's looking like a mule at the moment. I will have to stop and study my learners... there never is a point in a cross stitch where you can say "ok I've reached a good point to stop". It's never like that - the only time you can say "ok I can stop now" is once you've finished!

I found shoes. Pretty expensive sandals/strappy shoes. They match my outfit wonderfully, and they're nice and would go with other outfits too. Well they damnwell will have to! Hehe. All I need now is to go buy some make-up... my make-up is so old now I have to get some new stuff. Mascara, lipstick, make-up remover, pretty much the basics. My eyeshadow should still be alright. Don't know what I'm going to do with my hair... maybe wear it loose? Or clipped or something. Ah I'll think about it closer to the time. It's going to be fun on Saturday! :D I just hope the weather rocks too.

Nothing much else to blog about at the moment. HBBM is away this week, back Friday afternoon. I have taken Friday off, just to relax. G's office is having a 10pinbowling evening and he'll be leaving work at 3 to pick up his tux (for Saturday) so I thought it'd be simpler if I were at home ready to leave whenever he needs to. Somehow there's always a delay if I am at work and want to leave at a certain time (specially at 17:00... always a 5min email at 16:55 which lasts 20mins *rolls eyes*). Can't wait! Gonna a) sleep late, b) stitch a bit I guess, c) relax, d) enjoy the sunlight/being at home during the day, and e) squish G when he gets home!

I haven't got much work to do - depends on whether HBBM phones in and dictates emails from overseas (yes, he phones in from overseas to dictate emails, I hate it). I have 2 lever-arch file labels to print and that is pretty much it. I'm going to pace myself and not rush the labels else I won't have anything to do at all in the afternoon.

Mmm cuppasoup!

Heremia & Little Dude

Heremia's looking a bit like a mule but I'm so happy with the colour of the fabric+thread!

Little Dude, looking not so little anymore.

Oh Gah What A Twit!

That's the wrong damn song!

Ok yes, I wanted to post that song cos it's funky and I'm listening to it right now, but THIS is the one which mentions "soul tired":

Solidify

Pouring in and around the great wellspring
Of simple feeling
And I need bearings in the face of your
Cool cool fire
Walking backwards with the pounding of your voice
Makes my soul tired
And concrete is
As concrete doesn't
And voices can drown

Why should i
Why should i
Why should i
Why should i
Solidify
Make me real
So you can see me

I guess you thought
I'd hide the sun from my liquid thoughts and
Make ice for you
You thought I'd seed my clouds
With the rain of your personal dreams
I guess you thought I'd throw confetti
At your parade of lofty thoughts
I guess you thought I'd shine good morning
In some good morning jack
Surprise

Why should i
Why should i
Why should i
Why should i?
Solidify
Make me real
So you can see me

Such a twit LOL!

I have this song stuck in my head

Can't Cry Anymore - Sheryl Crow

Took your car
Drove to texas
Sorry, honey
But I suspected we were through
And I can't cry anymore
Since I left
Been feelin' better, cause that's
What you get when you
Stay together too long
And I can't cry anymore

[chorus]
Wouldn't it be good if we could hop a flight to anywhere
So long to this life
So much for pretending
Bad luck's never-ending
And now I know that

Money comes is
But the fact is
There's not enough to
Pay my taxes
And I can't cry anymore
Well, got a brother
He's got real problems
Heroin - no
There's just no stopping him tonight
And I won't cry anymore

Chorus

It's never ending

It could be worse
I could've missed my calling
Sometimes it hurts
But when you read the writing on the wall
Can't cry anymore

Chorus

And too much time I've been spending
With my heart in my hands
Waiting for time to come and mend it

I can't cry anymore

Not for any particular reason, well the part "soul tired" is applicable because I'm so exhausted right now. Not entirely sure why, hope it's nothing bad.

Things are starting to happen now. This month is a significant one hehe.

Our bed was replaced (finally!), we filed complaints about the previous rental agency (for not refunding the deposit which is TWO months' rent - fuckers!), mom had her tonsils out, we've accomplished much already in regard to wedding preparations (almost like too much at once!). I've also sent an email to trustees regarding the noisy neighbour, hopefully that will be attended to soon.

I have to buy shoes for a wedding at the end of this month....... ahh I HATE shoeshopping!!!!! I need new takkies too but don't want to go shoeshopping!!!!!!!

*sigh* we just need a break. ~soul tired~

Grrrrr

I am now COMPLETELY sick and tired of these FUCKING ARSEHOLES next door. Ok, apart from the cursed plastic ride-on motorbike, this kid made noise at 06:45 this morning, and then, when they went indoors, proceeded to have a tantrum for TWO FUCKING HOURS!!!

A COMPLETE tantrum, screaming, wailing, crying, whining, slamming doors, banging furniture against the wall. His bedroom wall is the adjoining wall to our 2nd bedroom. So from 06:45 we got to enjoy HIS performance.

His fucking mother was sitting in the room with him, talking to him, trying to joke with him, the entire time. No SMACK and a raised voice telling him to stop and behave, NO not a fucking peep in that tone.

I am SO SICK of these people. They've gone out and come home a couple of times today, and for all the time that they are home, he is WHINING and MOANING and WAILING. ALL THE TIME!!

I have sent an email to the trustee/body corporate, PLEASE LORD can something be done about this???? I'm half tempted to build a shack on the mountainside to GET AWAY from ARSEHOLES like this. You cannot tell me that they honestly do not know how noisy they are.

In other news: I finally found the learners book. Now if only I could get some fucking PEACE AND QUIET to actually STUDY the goddamn thing... >.<

Huis & tuis

The english translation of thise blogpost title is the name of a shop which I'm recommending you don't buy furniture from.

We bought a fridge, a washmachine/tumbledrier and a bed from them. 2 of the items they delivered at 10pm on a Friday night after saying it'd be there that afternoon. The other item they delivered a day late.

Much to our annoyance, the stitching has come undone on our bed (the mattress), and after much phoning and nagging, they've sorted it out and got a credit note and have stock and are going to exchange it. God knows if they have the right mattress etc but we'll have to wait and see. I have given them our new address but only time will tell whether they have noted it down on our account detail.

Ok now, the lady phoned me Monday morning, to ask if it can be delivered that day. I said no, because there isn't anyone at home, can it be delivered the next day. She said she'd try to arrange it and phone me back to let me know.

It is now the aforementioned "next day" and I rather irritatedly phone to find out what's going on. She's not in today. I ask to speak to someone else dealing with her stuff, and get put through to the manager. He says he'll find out what's going on and call me back.

Manager calls me back. "The lady knew she wouldn't be in today so she's booked it for tomorrow" he tells me. What, she was going to phone me tomorrow morning to ask if it can be delivered that day (again)? Erm, like, dude, we need to know WHEN it will be delivered, IN ADVANCE, so we can MAKE ARRANGEMENTS for someone to be HOME. But anyway, he says tomorrow "but I can't give you a time because it's an outside company and they come to us, see what has to go where and then decide on where and what etc ... " blablabla. WTF? So erm, can you give me a time? "I'll phone you tomorrow morning" he says. What, G's sposed to take time off work to be home when it arrives, but if they can't give a time, then what? He sits there the whole day, only for it to be delivered at 10pm again?

HELL NO

Steer clear of these morons who evidently are not at all interested in after sale service. Hell, they hardly seem interested in SALE because when you go there, trying to find a salesperson is like trying to find hen's teeth.

YAY!!!

Friday

It's Friday, another sunny Friday and I'm stuck indoors again... ARGH!!

I'm so bored - hbbm is out at meetings til 3pm, and once he gets back it's filing time. Which I'm not looking forward to.

I'm listening to my iPod now, but all I want to do is go sleep. Just go lie on the bed and drop off... relax, enjoy the quiet, enjoy the rest. Not do anything, despite the chores we HAVE to do, just to get a little bit of extra time to go home and use it to relax.

*yawn*

Heremia present and future!

Finally!

I am now blinging it up at work!

The lady from the jewellery shop phoned me yesterday morning to say my ring was ready to come check and collect.

After 30mins at home after work (to let the bad rush-hour traffic ease a little) we toodled through to the shop. It's 100%! This one's specs are better, and as a token of apology, I have a R400 credit with them. I'm gonna hang on to it, maybe for the wedding - a nice necklace or bracelet.

It's so lovely having it again! Feels so nice on my finger!

Stitched a little on Heremia last night. I'll try put a pic up this evening.

J&C are popping by for coffee later today, to pick up a CD of J's. Gotta clean the place up a little before they come. Got a PILE of washing to get going, and a bit of washing up. This weekend I have to clean the fishtank, and we have to do some cleaning - vacuum, clean the floors, etc etc etc. Just odds and ends. Sat afternoon we're going to a Fete with 2ts&her G, M&J. I'm just wondering whether Sat morning G and I should go to the shops to try find some shoes for G&H's wedding.

Dumdidumdidum! I love that outfit!! I can't wait for the wedding to wear it hehe.

Hbbm's in a meeting now, I'm bored but listening to Daft Punk. Tomorrow he's blocked off from 3pm til the end of the day "filing". YAY. Just what I really feel like doing on a Friday afternoon. *sigh*

Ok...

what all happened last week...

We went on Thursday to check out my ring - the completely new one, totally recreated with new diamonds and everything. Wonderful, perfect, everything's 100%... apart from the fact that the centre diamond is loose in exactly the same way as the original ring! And I'm a bit suspicious as to why my ring has a not-quite-clearly-engraved serial number on the inner side, and why the pedigree card of it says its serial no is (style #)/10/100. The ring is part of a limited edition, there are only 100 made. Surely if they made a new one to replace mine, they should say 13A (as in a revision of the design or something?) or 101/100 so they know that 101 were made? Maybe they've just made a slapdash "whatever looks like the original" ring and have given it the pedigree card of the ring which was the 10th of 100... and my new one has junk diamonds etc? I'm a little suspicious. It should be ready today, hopefully we can go check it out. I'm so tired of this. All I wanted from the start was to get that ring and have no problems.

Friday we had an office function. Went for lunch at a nice restaurant near to G's parents' place. I had 1kg of mussels (not THAT much, it included the weight of the shells so it was just the right amount YUM YUM). Afterwards we went on a boat trip out to some rocks to check out seals. The boat ride was uneventful, but it was so fun! As we passed the land, the wind just slashed right through us. It was a cold, windy cloudy day, but then it started to rain too. As we turned back to return to the harbour, they went right through some cool funky breakers! So we got about 1min of rough ride on the way back.

What else is new? Nothing much.

In the wrong order

Lol, I was just boiling over with that previous (rant) post and then with the excitement of finishing Warpony that I didn't blog other stuff that happened the past few days.

I have to type up some minutes first, before I carry on with this blogpost ... *sigh* the workday so badly interferes with what I WANT to do...

to be continued...
