Not as bad as that but still a nuisance.
I logged into my medical aid online account, and it seemed like they were about to have another attempt at the debit order. I immediately got on the phone with them and held for ages. The callcentre moron was not very keen to put me through, asking me what the problem was so I explained. She said my benefits were suspended due to nonpayment. I said I'd emailed and she said "we received your email it will be attended to during the week" (unacceptable... they'd be trying my bank account repeatedly, costing me quite a bit of cash). I asked about the bank fee and she kinda went um... so I asked to be put through to the financial dept and she asked me to hold and put me through to the switchboard. Asked there for financial dept, got put through and it got cut off. I tried again. Explained the story once more, to another callcenre clown who also couldn't help. Eventually I got through to someone in finance, who also couldn't help so I spoke to their senior. This lady was more than happy to help, she listened to my story and said she'd sort out the refunding of the bank charge. As for my details, I just have to fax through a bank statement to prove that the bank account is mine, essentially verifying the change. She also updated my details (other than the bank account details) while I was on the phone. She explained that the system is not supposed to allow changes in banking details and they have to get their IT dept to rectify that, but I had firmly said that nowhere did it say that I had to back up my changes with anything in writing.
Aaaaaaaaaanyway, I just logged into my online medical aid thing, and it shows the new updated details which she had changed. It also, bafflingly, shows my updated bank details which I had updated in the first week of October! I quickly copied and pasted the page into MS Word and emailed it through, as added emphasis that I HAD made the changes and that nowhere on the page did it say I had to send any verification through.
Anyway, it's all dealt with, I just hope that they sort it out promptly so that my benefits aren't disrupted.
*sigh*! Such a HASSLE. I'm not really looking forward to the whole mess when I have to change my name with everyone!
